Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2009 - Interactive World Map

The Corruption Perception Index (CPI) published by Transparency International measures the perceived levels of public-sector corruption in a given country. It is a composite index drawing on different expert and business surveys. The scale is from zero (highly corrupt) to ten (highly clean).

Excellent map and quite

Excellent map and quite useful. Granted I'm not sure how much there is to be sad positive about the way corruption indexes are measured hehe.
I mean if you think about it, just how corrupt are most governments? Even here in the USA it's pretty staggering to think about, but I guess comparing their corruption to other countries is only fair.
Cheers and thanks for the great project info!

That map is great as you can

That map is great as you can easily follow the data and see exactly where a country and its number are located. About corruption, I'm sorry to disappoint the USA guy from here. Your conclusions are false because the map doesn't show the real corruption index, but the corruption perception index. So, if people from the USA is not aware of that great corruption from its country the perception index will be higher. The correct conclusion would be that the USA citizens are not aware of what's happening there.

I am proud to live in the

I am proud to live in the greatest country in the world – the USA, because this perception index confirms that the American government and its people are indeed great! The government of the USA is the only government that I am aware of that has the honesty and dignity to inform its citizens that they cannot account for TRILLIONS of dollars missing. Honest Abe would be so proud. God bless America (by that I mean North America and by that I mean the USA).

Then what about the

Then what about the Scandinavian countries, they are the least corrupt in the world..........

People themselves are

People themselves are corrupt, therefore they find it beneficial to vote corrupt corrupt leaders in. Something might accrue to them doing this. That is why corruption might linger for long. The man leading the vanguard against corruption is himself neck-deep into it.

There is no democracy.People have no choice, they vote for the least corrupt.
Thus, the government enslaves the people, keeping all of them deliberately ignorant.
People aren't nothing more than a mass of maneuvers in the hands of corrupt dictators who prevent the growing of the country.
