15 Sec Timeout Message

I am having trouble with a map depicting all counties of the Untied States for which I downloaded the shapefile. When I first imported the shapefile, it loaded in Flashplayer with the sample data. I tweaked the data to avoid duplicates (there are many counties in different states that have the same name) by adding the relevant state abbreviation (e.g. Lincoln, NE). I also imported a simple data file. Now, I am getting the 15 second timeout error, at around 47% of loading map. This is the error message:

Error: Error #1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of 15 seconds.

I believe I have the newest version of StatPlanet Plus (downloaded and installed in August) and I am using Flashplayer 100 (r45).

Is it possibly because of the intricacy of the map? (more than 3000 counties in the US)

Many thanks,

Christian

Hi Christian, Yes this is

Hi Christian,

Yes this is most likely because of the size and complexity of the map. It is probably possible to load such a map in spite of the Flash Player limitations, and myself and a few others have already been looking into it (but no solution yet). If you happen to be a programmer yourself, the component for loading the shapefile maps is open source and can be modified.

If you send the map to me via e-mail I could check where exactly the problem is (my contact details are on the website). You could also try mapshaper to simplify the maps - see http://www.edutube.org/en/how-create-multiple-area-overlay-mapping#comme...

Best,
