Nelson Mandela - Release from Prison in 1990



Former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, spent 27 years in prison. On the day of his release in February 1990, he declared his commitment to peace and reconciliation. He subsequently helped lead the transition towards multi-racial democracy.
